Wild Mallow Story

Wild Mallow ( malva sylvestris ) is a vigorous plant with showy flowers of bright mauve-purple, with dark veins; standing 3 or 4 feet (1 m) high and growing freely in meadowshedgerows and in fallow fields.

Originating from Europe, wild mallow spreading on waste and rough grounds, has introduced itself and become naturalised in many parts of the world including Australia, United States, Mexico and Canada.

Wild Mallow was already consumed in 800 BC. The young leaves were boiled and served as a vegetable, eaten first in Spain and then in several parts of Europe in the 19th century. Wild mallow has also been used as decoration, with its pretty flowers spread on doorways and woven into garlands or chaplets for celebrating May Day.

Brewing Instruction

This herbal tea is delicious hot or iced - and even reheated the following day!

HOT TEA

With tea bag

One sachet is good to infuse a whole tea pot of 2-4 cups (300-600 ml); to your taste. We recommend that you infuse the tea bag only once to enjoy the natural colors that will be released with the first infusion.

Infuse 1 sachet in 300-600 ml of freshly boiled water for 5-10 min. Make sure to keep tea covered while steeping so that the health promoting essential oils don't evaporate. When it is to your taste, remove the tea bag and serve. If you have any leftover, just refrigerate and reheat gently the following day.

With loose tea

Before scooping, shake your FloralTea tin upside down to blend, for perfect taste and color from one cup to the next.

Scoop 1-2 g of blend per cup; to your taste. Infuse in freshly boiled water for 5-10 min. When it is to your taste, filter and serve. If you have any leftover, just refrigerate and reheat gently the following day.

ICED TEA

Follow the above instructions for hot tea, and then refrigerate before serving. You can freeze a portion in ice cubes and use them instead of regular ice cubes to keep your tea iced cold without diluting the taste when the ice cubes are melting. If you have any leftover, just refrigerate again and serve cold the following day.

Health Benefits

This blend is packed with medicinal plants renowned for their anti-aging benefits, such as wild mallow, wild blueberry and lemon.

In Spain, the multiple uses of wild mallow gave birth to the following maxim : “ A vegetable garden and wild mallow are all the remedies a household needs”. Wild mallow ( malva sylvestris ) has been used in traditional medicine since ancient times, and is still used in herbalism. Some of the most impressive health benefits of wild mallow include its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to reduce the signs of aging due to its rich vitamin content. Flower and leaf have emollient properties, helping skin look more supple and younger.

Wild blueberries from the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region in Quebec contain some of the most powerful antioxidants in the world, more than in any other food.  Antioxidants are substances that help prevent cell damage caused by free radicals which have been related to cancer and premature aging. Studies indicate that wild blueberries play a preventative role against Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases and can delay signs of aging like wrinkles, age spots, cataracts, osteoporosis, hair loss and dementia.  With its high antioxidant content, wild blueberry is a true elixir for healthy aging.

The virtues of lemon are endless, including the capacity to reinforce blood vessels, helping to prevent circulatory problems and arteriosclerosis, both conditions associated with aging.

Bursting with wild blueberries and a twist of lemon, our Wild Mallow herbal tea will quench your thirst and invigorate you !
